Here at Pop-Up, we believe that there is an abundance of creative talent in the city of Nottingham.  As you know, our quest is simply to give that talent an opportunity to be seen by a much wider audience.

For this reason, we are inviting you to enter a photography competition exclusive to our fine city. 

The challenge is to find that one special image that illustrates Nottingham. 

It could be a creative image, an image of something creative, perhaps something representing Nottingham’s creative history, or, our creative future.  We challenge you to come up with photographs that will make us laugh, cry, listen, hop on a tram, start a conversation, or start a revolution.

Simply email your image to and remember to include your name, telephone number and age.



What are you announcing?

We are announcing a photography prize for amateur and professional photographers alike.  Entrants can share their work across social media #picturethisnotts; and the five finalists will have their work displayed on  

The overall winner will also see their work transformed into something quite unique that will be showcased at a major exhibition event.

Who is the competition open to?

The competition is open to anyone over the age of 18 on the submission date who can take photographs!

How many entries can one person have?

You can only enter once, but you can submit up to three shots.

When is the deadline for entries?

Midday Monday 12th March 2012.

What prizes are you offering?

In addition to having photos displayed to million of people online, there are some great prizes to be won.

Who will be judging the entries?

Shortlist: A judging panel of 10 Pop Up Nottingham representatives from all disciplines will evaluate all submissions and will choose the five best submissions.

Finalists: The public will choose the winning image with an online vote.

How will they be judging?

Scores will be made up of the following criteria, each of equal weight:

  • Creativity
  • Innovation
  • How well they representNottingham

What format and size photos should be submit in?

There is no equipment restriction; mobile photos are very welcome.  However, we would prefer submissions in JPG format. 

There are also restrictions on size: Please ensure that any image sent is over 1MB in size and below 2MB.  However please keep your originals as we might need these if you make the final shortlist

Who owns the copyright to the photographs submitted?

You retain ownership of all intellectual property rights in the entry. We will feature succesful photographs on with your permission, however, we will not commercially exploit the photographs
