The Creative Quarter - is it for you?

Postby popadmin » Sat Oct 27, 2012 6:34 pm

The Creative Quarter is a key component of the Nottingham's Growth Plan and one that potentially has exciting implications for businesses in the Creative Quarter (The Lace Market and Hockley) as well as Nottingham as a whole.

As creative individuals that are based in the City of Nottingham, what do you think the Creative Quarter is all about and how should the investment be used to greatest effect?

Reading the summary of the plan, there is little information available on which to form an opinion. If Nottingham is to have a thriving creative industry then for emerging artists (young and old) there needs to be affordable facilities available where new creative businesses can blossom. Space made available for affordable rentable studios and for pop-up or permanent retail outlets that allow new artists to 'dip their toes in the water' of a selling environment.

This Monday, Pop Up Nottingham will be filming the pilot for a brand new debate show. Filming will take place in a top secret location, and will include a number of high profile panelists. One of the questions being put to the panel is, "What do you understand the creative quarter to be, and how will it change the face of Nottingham?"

Do you have your own thought's on the matter now that the project has been explained in more detail?
