Alan Birchall

Inspired by Japanese ceramics and the natural world I combine throwing, hand-building and carving to create individual ceramics that are decorative and functional and have an Oriental feel about them. I use wood ash glazes & fire my work in a gas/wood kiln. I make a range of work but focus on tableware, bowls and slabbed dishes as well as my signature pieces, Orcadian style wedding cogs. These make unique and personal wedding and anniversary gifts.
